Single Origin Coffee Beans
Each month at Apothecary Coffee we will showcase three Single Origin coffees from Paradox Roasters, two filter roasts and an espresso roast.

What is Single Origin Coffee ?
Single Origin Coffee signifies that a particular coffee originates from a distinct and precise region. These coffees come exclusively from one region, country, farm, or even a specific micro-lot within a farm. The idea is, that these coffees will exhibit the flavour, aroma, and overall characteristics of the geographical location.

Why are Single Origin Coffees Special?
The factors that contribute this unique profile include the region’s soil composition, climate, altitude, and farming practices. Each of these elements shapes the coffees terroir, just as they do for wine grapes. For instance, beans from high-altitude regions may exhibit brighter acidity and complex flavours, while those from lower elevations might showcase a fuller body with different flavour notes. Furthermore, Single Origin coffee offers transparency and traceability, allowing consumers to understand where their coffee comes from and appreciate the craftsmanship of local farmers. It also provides an opportunity to explore a wide range of flavour profiles. For example, an Ethiopian Single Origin coffee might have floral and fruity notes, while a Colombian Single Origin coffee may exhibit nutty and caramel-like flavours.
Ultimately, Single Origin Coffee provides an authentic coffee experience, connecting us with the distinct flavours and stories of coffee-producing regions around the world. It celebrates the diversity of coffee and the skill of farmers who nurture these unique beans.
